ALGIERS- In a collaborative effort to revitalize the mining sector, the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Algerian Council for Economic Renewal (CREA) conducted a coordination meeting on Tuesday. Chaired by Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab and CREA President Kamel Moula, the meeting brought together Mourad Hanifi, the Director-General of the National Agency for Mining Activities, CREA members, and ministry executives, as outlined in an official statement.
During the gathering, both parties engaged in discussions concerning the current state of Algeria’s mining activity, emphasizing available capacities and identifying existing challenges. The conversations delved into the established strategy and the proposed plans aimed at bolstering investments in the mining sector. This encompassed aspects such as geological studies, research, exploration, mining operations, and the manufacturing industry associated with mining.
To facilitate effective implementation of these initiatives, it was decided to strengthen cooperation and enhance consultations between the Ministry of Energy and Mines and CREA. This will involve organizing consultative meetings and intensifying discussions to determine effective mechanisms that promote both domestic and foreign investments. The ultimate goal is to achieve sustainable development within the Algerian mining sector.
This collaborative effort reflects a commitment to strategically position Algeria’s mining industry for growth and economic advancement. The coordination between the ministry and CREA underscores a shared vision for leveraging the country’s mining potential and addressing challenges to ensure a thriving and sustainable sector.
