Boughali’s Diplomatic Mission to Caracas: Algeria and Venezuela Deepen Strategic Ties

Algiers, Algeria | January 12th, 2025 — On Sunday, Speaker of Algeria’s People’s National Assembly (APN) Brahim Boughali was received in Caracas by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Moros, in a significant diplomatic meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

During the meeting, Boughali conveyed President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s warm congratulations to President Maduro on his re-election as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, emphasizing Tebboune’s best wishes for Maduro’s continued success in his presidential duties. This diplomatic exchange reaffirmed the enduring fraternal relations between Algeria and Venezuela.

Boughali, representing President Tebboune, reiterated Algeria’s steadfast commitment to enhancing cooperation and continuous coordination with Venezuela across various sectors. “Algeria is fully committed to bolstering bilateral cooperation and advancing mutual development across strategic domains,” Boughali affirmed.

The Speaker highlighted Algeria’s readiness to strengthen commercial exchanges with Venezuela, particularly in light of Algeria’s recent economic reforms aimed at diversifying exports and encouraging foreign investments. He underlined existing legal frameworks that facilitate cooperation in key sectors such as hydrocarbons, agriculture, transport, and tourism, which serve as a foundation for deepened economic collaboration.

The meeting also addressed pressing international issues of shared interest, with Boughali commending Venezuela’s principled stances in support of just causes, notably the Palestinian and Sahrawi struggles for self-determination.

In response, President Maduro expressed his profound gratitude to President Tebboune for Algeria’s high-level participation in this historic event, applauding Algeria’s revolutionary legacy. Maduro further emphasized the importance of fortifying South-South cooperation to promote global peace and combat neo-colonialism. “It is imperative for Southern nations to unite in resisting economic dominance through policies that safeguard dignity and economic sovereignty,” Maduro stated.

The diplomatic meeting was attended by key officials from both sides, including Algeria’s Ambassador to Caracas, Yacine Hadji, and the Director General for the Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Hachemi. On the Venezuelan side, National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez Gomez, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, Foreign Minister Yvan Gil, and Deputy Minister for African Affairs Yuri Pimentel were present.

This high-level engagement marks a renewed chapter in Algeria-Venezuela relations, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to shared principles of sovereignty, justice, and mutual prosperity.
