ALGIERS- The National Action Group for Palestine in Morocco (NAGP) is urging citizens to participate in protests across Moroccan cities and villages on Friday, December 22, marking the anniversary of the infamous normalization agreement signed on December 22, 2020, between Morocco and the Zionist Entity. The group aims to express the rejection of normalization and demand its annulment in alignment with the historical stance of the Moroccan people.
The protests coincide with the anniversary of the signing of the controversial agreement, which solidified ties between Morocco and the Zionist entity, tightening its grip on various aspects of the Moroccan state. The accord has been widely criticized for its adverse effects on Morocco’s economy and sovereignty.
In a statement, the Moroccan group, comprising dozens of anti-normalization entities, emphasized its commitment to ongoing public mobilization, including the recent launch of a petition demanding the annulment of normalization. The petition was initiated on December 10 during the People’s National March organized by the National Action Group, coinciding with International Human Rights Day and the third anniversary of the official commencement of the disastrous normalization process.
The Moroccan group indicated that it is actively engaging with trade unions and various influential entities to garner support for the Palestinian cause and opposition to normalization. Plans are underway to organize a comprehensive national strike in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The organization called for the continuation of its weekly central protests, traditionally held in front of the Moroccan Parliament every Wednesday and Friday. These protests, initiated after the historic Battle of the Aqsa Flood on October 7, stand as a symbol of solidarity with the Palestinian people and a demand for the annulment of all normalization agreements. The activists also call for the closure of the Zionist liaison office and the dissolution of the Moroccan-Zionist Parliamentary Friendship Committee.
The anniversary protests aim to reinforce the Moroccan public’s rejection of normalization, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the country’s historical solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Activists argue that normalization with the Zionist entity undermines Morocco’s long-standing support for the Palestinian people’s rights and sovereignty.
