Campaign Coordinator for Candidate Tebboune: “We Have Embarked on Our Mission with Dedication, and Our Community in France is Ready to Participate in the Elections”

Algiers, Algeria | August 27th, 2024 — In an exclusive interview with Dzair Tube, Maamar Ben Kala, the campaign coordinator for independent presidential candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune in France’s Auvergne region and surrounding areas, revealed that the team had begun its work immediately upon receiving official approval. Although faced with initial obstacles due to many members of the Algerian community being in Algeria for the summer holidays, Ben Kala and his colleagues have been relentlessly organizing community meetings to rally support for Tebboune’s re-election campaign.

“We encountered some difficulties at the outset, largely because much of our community was still in Algeria,” Ben Kala admitted. “Nevertheless, we have persisted, organizing smaller, localized meetings in different regions.” He added that preparations are underway for larger rallies set for August 30 in Paris, Lille, and Lyon, culminating in a significant event in Marseille on August 31. In a bid to boost turnout, the campaign has even arranged transportation, providing buses to bring supporters to the Marseille gathering—a crucial milestone in their outreach efforts.

Ben Kala expressed optimism about the campaign’s momentum, pointing to the strong and growing enthusiasm from Algerians living abroad since President Tebboune announced his intention to seek a second term. “The level of enthusiasm we’ve seen from our community is extraordinary. Many people have rushed to consulates to register, eager to participate in the electoral process and cast their votes,” he remarked.

Ben Kala also addressed the presence of what he termed “traitorous elements” embedded within state institutions. He accused these individuals of seeking to destabilize Algeria by undermining crucial services during election periods and disseminating disinformation aimed at creating uncertainty among the public.

“Our compatriots abroad are increasingly aware of these conspiracies,” Ben Kala affirmed. “The day will come when these traitors are exposed for what they truly are—saboteurs attempting to weaken our nation.” Despite these challenges, he remains confident that the resilience of Algerian patriots will thwart such schemes and believes that voter turnout among the diaspora will reach unprecedented levels. “The honorable sons and daughters of Algeria will guarantee a massive turnout,” he declared, projecting a decisive victory for Tebboune.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Ben Kala shared, “I’ve been living abroad for 45 years. I originally came here as a student, and from the beginning, I’ve been involved in activism. My commitment to Algeria has never wavered. We made history once in 1994, and we are poised to do so again.”

In a final message, Ben Kala addressed those he referred to as “pseudo-activists,” who tend to emerge solely during election periods. “The field is open, the work is endless, and the door to activism remains unlocked. I challenge you to step up and start a new chapter with us.”
