Chaib, Ben Ayed Reinforce Algerian-Tunisian Cooperation in High-Level Diplomatic Meeting

Algiers, Algeria | January 14th, 2025 — In a significant diplomatic encounter, Algeria’s Secretary of State for the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, met with his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ben Ayed, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, during an official visit to Tunisia. Both officials expressed satisfaction with the “deep fraternal relations and comprehensive cooperation” between Algeria and Tunisia, emphasizing the “remarkable progress in bilateral collaboration across all sectors,” which they attributed to the leadership directives of the presidents of both countries.

The discussions focused on advancing cooperation mechanisms related to the welfare of both nations’ expatriate communities, aligning with the broader momentum of bilateral ties. Chaib and Ben Ayed underscored the importance of ongoing coordination to ensure their respective diasporas receive enhanced support and representation.

Moreover, the two parties welcomed the “positive outcomes” of the most recent session of the Joint Consular, Social, and Property Commission held last month in Tunisia. They acknowledged the progress made and stressed the need for further efforts to resolve outstanding issues. To this end, both sides committed to adopting a clear roadmap with specific timelines in preparation for upcoming bilateral engagements.
