Government Initiative Aims to Harness the Expertise of the Diaspora for Algeria’s Healthcare Sector

Algiers, Algeria | February 16th, 2025 — In a significant step toward fostering collaboration between Algeria and its diaspora, Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, engaged in a high-level consultation with Algerian doctors in Germany. The meeting, organized by the Consulate General of Algeria in Frankfurt in partnership with the Association of Algerian Doctors in Germany, aimed to explore avenues for medical investment and the strategic involvement of expatriate professionals in Algeria’s healthcare sector.

Titled “Medical Entrepreneurship in Algeria,” the conference served as a platform for discussing investment prospects and reinforcing Algeria’s commitment to leveraging the expertise of its global scientific community. In his address, Chaib underscored the priority accorded by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to integrating the diaspora into national development efforts, particularly in high-potential sectors such as the knowledge economy and medical innovation.

“Algerians abroad constitute an invaluable asset for the nation. Their advanced expertise and professional success should be channeled into enhancing Algeria’s healthcare infrastructure,” Chaib stated, emphasizing the administration’s resolve to create a conducive environment for returning investors and specialists.

The meeting facilitated an in-depth review of investment opportunities, including the establishment of state-of-the-art medical facilities, specialized clinics, and research centers that align with Algeria’s strategic healthcare objectives. The Algerian government, Chaib reiterated, is committed to easing regulatory constraints and fostering professional exchanges between Algerian medical experts both at home and abroad.
