The coach of the Algerian football team A’ Madjid Bougherra, insisted on Monday on the importance of winning Tuesday against Ethiopia, at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Baraki (8:00 p.m.), to advance to the quarter-finals of the Premier League. Africa of Nations CHAN-2022 (postponed to 2023) in Algeria (January 13-February 4), on the occasion of the 2nd day (Gr.A).
“We take each match as a final, it will be an important meeting for both teams. We will aim for victory to seal our qualification. The hardest part remains to be done, nothing is certain, we must avoid relax, give everything to win this second meeting”, he said during a press conference held at the Baraki stadium.
Algeria made a successful debut in this 7th edition of CHAN, winning the opening match on Friday against Libya (1-0), while the Ethiopians drew against Mozambique (0-0).
“We are going to see more liberated players, to be able to express all their qualities. In the first match, there were bad and good things, we are not perfect. The most important thing is the state of spirit. We worked on the aspects that we were a little lacking. There was a lot of pressure in the first game, I’m confident, I hope we will have the opportunity to see a more attacking team with a lot of quality in the last pass”.
And to continue: “I invite the players to take pleasure in making efforts collectively, to have this desire to do well, without pressure. I have quality players, if they are good we can hurt, especially in tactical discipline. The public will certainly push us to the end”.
Asked about his next opponent, the former captain of the national team was full of praise for Ethiopia, “a team with a lot of automatisms”.
“Ethiopia is a team with a lot of automatisms, which plays the ball well, very comfortable, if we let them play they gain confidence. We know what to expect, we have studied it, we will respect it. The more matches we go on, the more difficult it will be, hence the importance of keeping a good state of mind”.
