ALGIERS, November 13, 2023 – In a historic turning point for Algeria’s automotive landscape, Auto Leader Company announced the arrival of the first electric car, the Cherry eQ1, at the Djen Djen Port in Jijel province. This innovative model, with its anticipated pricing strategy, is set to revolutionize the Algerian car market.
Commonly referred to as the “Little Ant,” the Cherry eQ1 is a compact, three-door, four-seater electric model.

A First Look at the Electric Car and Its Expected Price
The Cherry eQ1 was initially launched in March 2017, and its introduction into the Algerian market marks a substantial step forward in the realm of electric vehicles. While its price in Algeria has not been disclosed, in Europe, it ranges between 7,000 and 13,400 euros, approximately equal to 100 to 193 million Algerian dinars.
The Cherry eQ1 boasts impressive technical specifications, featuring a 41 horsepower motor with 95 Newton-meters of torque. Equipped with a 28.86-kilowatt-hour battery, it offers a range of up to 301 kilometers. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes approximately 19.4 seconds, coupled with a spacious 400-liter trunk, blending functionality with performance.
In terms of charging, the Cherry eQ1 ensures a convenient experience with support for fast charging at 55 kilowatts, allowing for a rapid charge of 3.3 kilowatts using alternating current.
The car’s standard equipment includes a multimedia system with a 10-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker sound system, air conditioning, electric parking brakes, 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlights and taillights, and seven airbags.
Optional features encompass a rear parking sensor, a rearview camera, a blind-spot warning system, and a panoramic glass sunroof.
