Zhang Guibing: “All Chery models will be made in Algeria—We aim to export across Africa in partnership with Chery Algeria”

Algiers, Algeria | April 26th, 2025 —  The President of Chery International, Zhang Guibing, has officially announced that the company is fully prepared to launch its automobile manufacturing operations in Algeria and is currently awaiting the final approval from Algerian authorities to begin production without delay.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Zhang emphasized that “all Chery models will be manufactured locally in Algeria”, underscoring the company’s firm commitment to establishing a robust and integrated automotive industry on Algerian soil. He added that the ultimate objective of this strategic investment is to transform Algeria into a regional hub for the export of Chery vehicles to the African continent.

“Our main goal,” Zhang stated, “is to cooperate closely with our Algerian partner, Chery Algeria, to develop an industrial platform that meets both domestic demand and positions Algeria as a gateway to Africa.”

The Chery executive praised the growing bilateral relationship between the company and Algerian institutions, describing it as “extremely positive and steadily advancing.” He noted that preparations are already underway to lay the foundational infrastructure for a large-scale industrial launch.

In a direct message to Algerian consumers, Zhang declared, “We offer both quality and affordability,” affirming that the brand is committed to delivering competitively priced vehicles that meet international standards.

This move by Chery International reflects Algeria’s strategic importance in China’s broader economic outreach to Africa and reinforces the country’s attractiveness as a manufacturing base and logistics hub. The upcoming plant is expected to create jobs, boost local industry, and position Algeria as a leading player in the African automotive market.

The project aligns with Algeria’s broader industrial diversification policy and reflects strong foreign investor confidence in the national business climate.
