Algiers, Algeria | December 10th, 2024 — In a solemn commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the November 1st Revolution, a defining moment in Algeria’s struggle for independence, General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army and Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, inaugurated a historical conference under the theme: “The 70th Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Glorious Revolution: Between the Challenges of Victory and the Price of Freedom.”
Speaking at the event, held to honor the monumental sacrifices made during Algeria’s liberation struggle, General Chanegriha underscored the Revolution’s profound significance as a movement for justice, dignity, and human rights. He affirmed, “The November 1st Revolution was a revolution of truth against oppression and tyranny, a triumphant stand for the honor and dignity of humankind.”

General Chanegriha expressed that this year’s commemoration was designed to reflect the immense stature of the historic November Revolution. He declared, “This celebration honors the unmatched greatness of November 1, 1954, which restored our nation’s sovereignty and came at an immeasurable cost of more than 5.63 million martyrs.”

During the conference, participants reflected on the Revolution’s enduring impact, which resonated beyond Algeria’s borders as a beacon of liberation for oppressed peoples worldwide. The event highlighted the strategic brilliance and unity that characterized the struggle against colonial forces, ultimately securing Algeria’s independence in 1962.
