Chief of Staff Saïd Chanegriha Strengthens Algerian-Indian Military Cooperation on Second Day of Official Visit

Algiers, Algeria | February 6th, 2025 — On the second day of his official visit to India, Lieutenant General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army, continued high-level discussions aimed at reinforcing bilateral military and defense cooperation.

As part of his visit, Lieutenant General Chanegriha toured Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a leading Indian naval defense industry facility. He was received by the shipyard’s director, who provided a comprehensive briefing on the company’s mission, operational structure, and production capabilities. The presentation included detailed explanations from military engineers and defense experts regarding the cutting-edge materials, advanced weaponry systems, and both defensive and offensive capabilities of the naval vessels manufactured at the facility.

In addition to his visit to GSL, the Algerian military chief inspected the Goa Naval-Air Base, where he was welcomed by Rear Admiral Ajay D. Theophilus, the base commander. The visit featured an in-depth briefing on the base’s strategic role in securing India’s territorial waters and airspace, as well as its operational readiness in maritime defense.
