Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Li Jian Emphasizes Shared Principles of Non-Interference and Strategic Partnership

Algiers, Algeria | May 17, 2024 — Ambassador Li Jian of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria reaffirmed the robust and longstanding nature of bilateral relations between Algeria and China, characterizing them as deeply rooted in history and marked by unwavering solidity, underpinned by principles of mutual trust and support. Addressing attendees at a conference-debate centered on the “Taiwan” issue held at the embassy headquarters, Li Jian reiterated the shared commitment of both nations to repudiate any external interference in their internal affairs.
Emphasizing the fundamental tenets guiding Algeria-China relations, Li Jian underscored the shared adherence to the principle of non-interference by external powers in the domestic affairs of sovereign states. Furthermore, he reiterated the mutual understanding between Algeria and China to pursue development trajectories tailored to the unique national circumstances of each country, with the aim of deepening their strategic partnership.
The ambassador highlighted the widespread adherence worldwide to the “One China” principle, citing the backing of more than 183 nations with diplomatic ties to China. He also acknowledged Algeria’s instrumental role in facilitating China’s reinstatement to its rightful seat at the United Nations in 1971.
Former diplomat and President of the International Association of Friends of the Algerian Revolution, Noureddine Djoudi, echoed Ambassador Li’s sentiments, stressing the profound and enduring nature of Algeria-China relations, tracing their origins back to the era of the liberation war. Djoudi praised Algeria’s steadfast camaraderie with China and celebrated the significant achievements borne out of their collaboration across diverse domains.
Similarly, Saïd Hamici, President of the Algeria-China friendship parliamentary group at the People’s National Assembly (APN), affirmed the alignment of the Algerian Parliament’s stance with the state’s positions under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Hamici underscored that these positions, grounded in the Declaration of November 1, 1954, and the convictions of the Algerian populace, underscore a resolute commitment to international solidarity and cooperation.
