ALGIERS- The Chinese embassy organized, on Wednesday, a charity event at the Red Crescent’s Orphanage Village of Draria in Algiers, the capital of Algeria. The event was graced by Chinese diplomats and doctors who conducted health consultations for the children in the village. Additionally, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) in Algeria organized various games and activities for the children and donated gifts, health care kits, and stationary supplies worth approximately 2 million Algerian dinars (about $14,617).
This marks the seventh consecutive year that CSCEC Algeria has donated to the Draria Children’s Village, according to the Chairman of CSCEC Algeria, Tang Hao. The Chinese Ambassador to Algeria, Li Jian, expressed his hopes that the Sino-Algerian friendship would be passed on from generation to generation, emphasizing that China is a permanent friend and sincere partner of Algeria. He wished the children a special and joyful Children’s Day and success in their future studies.
The director of Draria Children’s Village, Sofiane Guercif, expressed, on his part, his gratitude for the much-needed materials and gifts, which made the children feel the warmth from China. Draria Children’s Village is a charitable organization based in Algiers that provides international relief for orphaned children. Currently, it supports 72 children between the ages of 4 and 22.
Overall, the event was a perfect embodiment of the friendship between the Algerian and Chinese people. It was heartwarming to see the Chinese Embassy and CSCEC Algeria come together to support the children in the village, and it is a testament to the strong bond between the two nations.
