ALGIERS- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad reassured, in a press release, that no “victims have been recorded among the members of the Algerian diaspora in Sudan”, where armed clashes have erupted, on Saturday, between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (FSR, paramilitaries).
The same press release added that, in coordination with the Algerian Embassy in Khartoum, the ministry is closely monitoring the “conditions of the Algerian community present in this brotherly country”.
On the other hand, the ministry called on members of the Algerian community to exercise caution and follow the security and vigilance instructions given by the authorities. It also invited them to remain in constant contact with the services of the Algerian embassies in Khartoum via the following toll-free number: 00249120062900.
As a reminder, the armed clashes that broke out early Saturday in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, between the regular army and the paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces, of General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo, known as “Hemedti”, claimed, according to the first reports, at least 56 dead among civilians.
The Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors announced that it had counted some 600 wounded, in particular among the security forces. A situation denounced by Algeria which called on the Sudanese parties to stop the fighting and to make dialogue prevail in order to overcome the disagreements, no matter how complex they are, and to favour the country’s supreme interest.”
