Algiers, Algeria | September 30th, 2024 — The National Social Security Fund (CNAS) has officially signed a partnership agreement with the Brussels University Hospital, marking a significant advancement in Algeria’s healthcare landscape. The signing ceremony took place under the supervision of the Minister of Labor, Fayçal Bentaleb, and was attended by the Belgian Ambassador to Algeria, members of the National Assembly’s Health and Social Affairs Commission, and representatives from the Brussels University Hospital, alongside numerous officials from the health sector.
In his address, Minister Bentaleb emphasized that this partnership aims to diversify healthcare options for patients and enhance the quality of medical services for Algerians, both domestically and abroad. He noted that it represents a strategic move to leverage advanced medical expertise from Belgium, thereby fostering stronger medical cooperation and exchanges between the two nations.
The agreement will allow Algerian specialists to acquire advanced medical skills in critical fields such as pediatrics, nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiac surgery, and vascular and cerebrovascular oncology. Bentaleb highlighted the ongoing national efforts to enhance the healthcare system, underlining the state’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare to its citizens, as evidenced by notable advancements in the sector.
These efforts are reflected in the establishment of a comprehensive network of public health facilities across the nation, ensuring free healthcare access, alongside the crucial role of the private healthcare sector in strengthening the national health system. Minister Bentaleb pointed out that these initiatives have contributed to a reduction in the number of cases requiring treatment abroad, thanks to government efforts aimed at bolstering national healthcare capacity through collaborative projects with friendly and allied countries.
