Algiers, Algeria | July 12th, 2024 — Air Algérie has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment as the preferred carrier for the Algerian Olympic Committee (COA), continuing a tradition dating back to 2013. Recently, a pivotal four-year partnership agreement was formalized in Algiers between the COA and Air Algérie. This agreement, signed in the presence of key dignitaries, such as Youth and Sports Minister Abderrahmane Hammad and Transport Minister Mohamed El Habib Zahana, ensures favorable transportation conditions for athletes and COA officials.
One of the key provisions of this accord is a 50% discount on travel expenses for national team athletes participating in international competitions. The signing ceremony, held at the Algerian Olympic and Sports Museum, was marked by the endorsement of COA Secretary-General Kheireddine Barbari and Air Algérie CEO Hamza Benhamouda. Benhamouda reiterated Air Algérie’s unwavering commitment to supporting Algerian athletes and emphasized the airline’s crucial role in advancing national sports development.
With the Paris 2024 Olympics approaching in just 15 days, 46 Algerian athletes have already secured their places to compete from July 26th to August 11th. Reflecting on the significance of the partnership, Benhamouda underscored Air Algérie’s corporate responsibility, stating, “Air Algérie remains dedicated to bolstering the sporting aspirations of Algerian athletes and stands as a steadfast partner to national sports authorities.”
Minister Abderrahmane Hammad commended Air Algérie for its enduring support of Algerian sports, noting the pivotal role of this agreement in enhancing athlete support and promoting Algerian sports on the global stage, particularly during the prestigious Paris Olympics.
As preparations intensify, the exact departure date for the Algerian delegation to Paris has yet to be announced, underscoring ongoing logistical efforts to ensure optimal conditions for Algeria’s participation in this highly anticipated event.
