ALGIERS- In the presence of the Minister of Energy, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of Environment, Mrs. Fazia Dahlab, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sonelgaz Group, Mr. Mourad Adjal, a ceremony was held for the signing of 19 contracts for the construction of 20 photovoltaic solar power plants across 17 provinces of the country.
This initiative falls within the framework of the 1000-megawatt and 2000-megawatt projects, which are part of a more ambitious plan aimed at generating 15,000 megawatts of electricity from solar energy, ultimately enabling Algeria to save several billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.
The signing ceremony represents a significant milestone in Algeria’s efforts to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. With a focus on harnessing the abundant solar energy potential available throughout the country, these projects contribute to Algeria’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation.
