ALGIERS- Abdelkarim Benmbarek, the Secretary General of the National Liberation Front (FLN), declared that the era of single-family rule within the party is over. Affirming FLN’s position as the foremost political force in the nation, he emphasized its status as the party of martyrs.
During the first press conference held in his capacity as the Secretary General, Abdelkarim Benmbarek stated that the 11th Congress of the party was successful on all fronts. Among its outcomes is the return to the old organizational structure known as the “cell-division-province.”
Benmbarek vowed to open the doors of the historic party to everyone, addressing what he referred to as “accumulated issues” and signaling a departure from the past. He announced the abandonment of all legal cases filed by the party against activists.
In this new phase for Algeria, Benmbarek stressed the importance of expediting major mining projects to tackle unemployment in the border province of Tebessa, promote development, counter smuggling, and secure the homeland.
Addressing the gains achieved in bolstering the internal front, he emphasized the need for constant vigilance and urged full integration with national institutions to bear the burdens of the homeland.
In response to questions from journalists, Benmbarek assured that the era of chaos within the party has ended, promising a focus on political life. He stated firmly, “There is no place for thugs or corrupt money in the National Liberation Front.”
Regarding the upcoming presidential elections, Benmbarek avoided direct commentary, stating that the time for such discussions has not yet arrived. He clarified that the conference file is with the Ministry of the Interior, and while some names might fall, everyone will find their rightful place in the new party structure.
The FLN, under its new leadership, aims to revitalize its political standing, fostering inclusivity, and distancing itself from past controversies. The Secretary General’s commitment to transparency and accountability signals a renewed direction for the party, promising a more dynamic and participatory political landscape in Algeria.
