In the presence of the President of the Republic, Condor Electronics unveiled its state-of-the-art production unit, which aims to achieve the “maximum integration rate, excluding India and China,” according to the group’s president, Mohamed Salah Daas. The unit is expected to produce 6,000 smartphones daily, translating to nearly 2 million units annually. This initiative underscores Condor’s commitment to maximizing local integration, thereby reducing reliance on imported components and boosting the national economy.

The event also highlighted Condor’s new marketing agreement with a French company. The President of the Republic announced that authorizations have been granted to a French firm to establish operations in Algeria, on the condition that it sells locally manufactured products in its large retail outlets. He emphasized the inclusion of Condor products in this portfolio, expressing confidence that Algerians abroad would favor Algerian-made products.
Challenges and Future Prospects
Despite these strides, challenges remain, particularly in achieving competitive integration rates in the electronics industry. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune pointed out these hurdles, while Mohamed Salah Daas noted that Condor currently achieves around 40% integration in electronics and 80% in refrigerator production. He expressed optimism about increasing these figures, driven by the company’s substantial experience and expertise in smartphone assembly and manufacturing.
Government and Industry Collaboration
The long-term vision shared by the government and industrial players aims to create a dynamic and profitable ecosystem centered around the production of secure, high-quality smartphones. Condor is committed to meeting European standards and obtaining Google certification to ensure the quality of its products. However, achieving this vision requires a supportive regulatory framework.

In a recent discussion with Mohamed Salah Daas in April, following a significant meeting at the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, it was clear that Condor is well-prepared to resume smartphone production. The meeting, chaired by Ali Aoun and attended by key stakeholders, including the Minister of Post and Telecommunications and the Minister of Commerce and Export Promotion, focused on revitalizing smartphone manufacturing in Algeria. Daas confirmed that Condor is ready to start production lines as soon as they receive the green light from authorities, highlighting the company’s significant expertise in smartphone assembly and manufacturing.
