ALGIERS- The Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, emphasized the quality and competitiveness of the national product in the field of building materials, encouraging local producers to export and penetrate foreign markets, particularly in Africa.
“The Algerian product has become global and complies with various international rules and standards in terms of quality,” said Minister Belaribi during a press conference on the sidelines of the opening of the 25th edition of the 2023 “Batimatic” Fair, held at the Palace of Expositions, Pins-Maritimes, in Algiers.
“We encourage local producers (of building materials) to export and “penetrate the African market, after the national product covers the needs of domestic consumption,” the minister said.
The minister pointed out that “the Algerian product has reached an integration rate of 80 and 90%,” encouraging producers to increase investments and create a national handling network as a prerequisite to achieving an integration rate of 100%.
He underlined that the construction sector recorded the launch of the program established within the framework of the finance law for the year 2023, which relates to the construction of approximately 264,000 housing units, all formulas combined, noting that the requests for the realization of the program are addressed to the various public and private operators, taking into account quality, cost, and compliance with completion deadlines.
