ALGIERS- STEP Polymers Spa, a subsidiary of the renowned oil group Sonatrach, has recently announced the awarding of the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, & Construction) contract to the Petrofac – HQC consortium for the construction of a complex in the town of Arzew. This state-of-the-art infrastructure is expected to produce a whopping 550,000 tons/year of polypropylene, with a total investment of 1.5 billion USD.
The selection process for this project was launched in April 2021, through a limited consultation, targeting the world’s leading experts in the construction of petrochemical complexes. According to a press release from the group, the contract was awarded to the Petrofac – HQC consortium, who submitted the lowest bid, in accordance with the procurement procedure in force within STEP Polymers Spa, for a period of completion.
This significant milestone marks a new chapter in the growth and development of STEP Polymers Spa, as they continue to expand their operations and cement their position as a leading player in the petrochemical industry.
