ALGIERS- During the Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced his decision to reject the preliminary draft revision of the Code of Civil and Administrative Procedures. The aim is to enrich the code with proposals from professionals and experts, particularly judges who possess the necessary skills to inspire the required amendments.

As the highest court in the country, the Supreme Court’s decisions are final and must serve justice and the citizen by ruling on cases that have not been decided at different stages of legal proceedings. To reduce the burden on magistrates and the delays in processing cassation appeals, it is imperative to define the type and nature of appeals submitted to the Supreme Court.

In light of this, President Tebboune has requested the exclusion of financial and commercial disputes from the Supreme Court’s prerogatives. Instead, these disputes will be confined to specialized commercial courts.

This decision will streamline the legal process and ensure that justice is served efficiently and effectively. By excluding financial and commercial disputes from the Supreme Court’s responsibilities, the court can focus on cases that require its expertise and attention. This move will also reduce the burden on magistrates and expedite the legal process, ultimately benefiting the citizens of the country.
