Counter-Terrorism Operations in Algeria: Five Terrorist Supporters Arrested in One Week

The ANP report underscores the ongoing commitment and vigilance of the armed forces in combating terrorism and organized crime across Algeria. The operations, which were executed with high professionalism and constant readiness, yielded significant results:

1. Arrests and Confiscations: During the specified period, the ANP detained five individuals involved in supporting terrorist activities. These arrests were part of broader counter-terrorism efforts that involved various military detachments operating across the national territory.
2. Weapons Seizures: In a separate operation in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, located in the 6th Military Region, a combined ANP unit recovered a Kalashnikov submachine gun, a Simonov semi-automatic rifle, and a magazine. These seizures were part of the ongoing effort to disrupt the logistics and operational capabilities of terrorist groups.
3. Drug Trafficking Crackdown: In the fight against organized crime, particularly narcotics trafficking, the ANP, in collaboration with various security services, intercepted 41 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 300 kilograms and 4 grams of processed cannabis (kif) across the Moroccan border. Additionally, 181,296 psychotropic pills were seized during these operations.
4. Illegal Mining Operations: In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, and Illizi, ANP detachments arrested 329 individuals involved in illegal mining. They also confiscated 14 vehicles, 400 generators, 283 jackhammers, as well as raw gold and ore, explosives, detonators, and equipment used in unauthorized gold mining activities.
5. Miscellaneous Arrests and Seizures: Further operations resulted in the arrest of 20 additional individuals, the confiscation of nine hunting rifles, five automatic pistols, a Kalashnikov submachine gun, and 42,568 liters of fuel.
6. Interception of Illegal Emigration: On the national coastlines, the ANP’s coast guard successfully thwarted attempts by 272 individuals attempting clandestine emigration in makeshift boats. Additionally, 392 undocumented immigrants from various nationalities were apprehended across the country.
