The public prosecutor at the economic and financial penal pole of the court of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) requested, Wednesday afternoon, a sentence of 18 years in prison accompanied by a fine of 3 million DA to the against Saïd Bouteflika, brother and advisor to former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, prosecuted with several businessmen for corruption.
The same prison sentence was requested against the defendants Ali Haddad and Mahieddine Tahkout together with a fine of 8 million DA.
A sentence of 15 years in prison accompanied by a fine of 8 million DA was requested against the Kouninef brothers (Réda, Abdelkader Karim, Tarek-Noah and Souad) with confirmation of the international arrest warrant issued to the against Souad Kouninef. The same sentence was requested against Maazouz Ahmed.
As for Bairi Mohamed, the public prosecutor requested a sentence of 12 years in prison with a fine of 8 million DA.
A sentence of 10 years in prison with a fine of 3 million DA was requested against Tahkout Hamid, Tahkout Nacer, Tahkout Rachid and the former director of public works, Khelifaoui Ali.
The public prosecutor also requested a sentence of eight (8) years in prison and a fine of one million DA against the former director general of the National Bank of Algeria (BNA), Aboud Achour and three (3 ) years in prison with a fine of 8 million DA required against former deputy Tahar Missoum alias “specific”.
The other sentences required against the rest of the defendants, the majority of whom are businessmen, range from 3 to 10 years in prison.
