ALGIERS- The president of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) paid, on Friday, a visit to Tizi Ouzou, where she inquired about the progress of the solidarity operations organized for this month of Ramadan by the local committees of this humanitarian organization.
Mrs. Ibtissem Hamlaoui went to the Rahma restaurants opened by the local committees of the CRA in the municipalities of Draâ Ben Khedda, Tizi-Ouzou-ville, Ait Yahia Moussa and Tizi Ghenif.
“She broke her fast at Tizi Ghenif’s Rahma restaurant alongside volunteers and people passing through,” said the president of the wilaya committee, Rachid Boutalbi, specifying that the ceremony of breaking the fast took place in a perfect atmosphere of communion between the president of the CRA, the volunteers and the guests of this restaurant.
During her tour, the president of the CRA called on the volunteers to persevere in fulfilling their mission of solidarity with the poor and to perpetuate this extraordinary tradition of solidarity and mutual aid.
In this vein, she paid a vibrant tribute to all the volunteers mobilized since the beginning of this sacred month in the preparation and distribution of hot meals and food parcels to families and people in need.
The solidarity operations organized by the CRA in Tizi-Ouzou cover nine Rahma restaurants where until last Friday more than 43,000 meals were distributed for the benefit of needy families, some of which were taken away, said the chairman of the wilaya committee.
In this same framework of solidarity and mutual aid, the wilaya committee proceeded during the same period to the distribution of some 1,200 food parcels to destitute families across the four corners of the wilaya, added the same official.
Concerning the circumcision operations of children from the same families, the same official indicated that the operations have hitherto affected more than 500 children from several villages of the wilaya.
