In a bold call for economic justice and mutual respect, CREA highlights Algeria’s priorities: opening European markets to non-oil exports, attracting strategic investments, and enabling industrial technology transfer.
Algiers, Algeria | April 23rd, 2025 — In a resolute message aimed at reshaping Euro-Algerian economic relations, Kamel Moula, President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), has called on the European Union to embrace a balanced and forward-looking partnership with Algeria—one built on mutual respect, shared interests, and long-term strategic vision rather than short-term commercial gains.
During a public statement issued on Sunday, Moula emphasized that any viable relationship between Algeria and Europe must abandon one-sided approaches. “CREA insists on the necessity of constructing a balanced partnership based on mutual interests without the imposition of unilateral visions,” he asserted, stressing that Algeria will no longer accept partnerships in which it plays a passive or subordinate role.
Moula outlined three top priorities that should define future cooperation with the European Union. First and foremost, he urged the opening of European markets to Algerian non-hydrocarbon exports—a vital step in supporting Algeria’s drive to diversify its economy beyond oil and gas. Second, Moula highlighted the importance of fostering genuine European investment in Algeria, not only as a catalyst for economic development but also as a testament to mutual trust. “Real investment signals real confidence,” he said, adding that Algeria seeks investors who will contribute to its long-term industrial and economic ambitions, not speculative interests. Third, Moula placed particular emphasis on the urgent need to promote technology transfer through deep industrial partnerships.
In a broader strategic context, Moula reiterated that Algeria’s economic and social stability is a linchpin for the stability of the entire Mediterranean and Sahel regions. “A prosperous, resilient Algeria is not only in its own interest, but also in the best interest of regional peace and European stability,” he stressed.
CREA’s appeal comes at a time when Algeria is asserting itself as a sovereign economic actor and demanding a more dignified place in the global value chain.
