CREA’s President: “Algeria has potential, capabilities to set out durum wheat export goal”

ALGIERS–   The president of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), Kamel Moula, stressed that Algeria had potential and capabilities to set out durum wheat export goal.

Speaking at the work of the forum on food security in durum wheat, opened, this morning, by Prime Minister, Aïmen Benabderrahmane, at the International Conference Center (Abdellatif Rahal), in Algiers, Mr. Moula noted that durum wheat “is an essential element for Algerian families, hence, the utmost need to nip the dependency in providing this vital food element from the bud, and heading towards self-sufficiency and export thanks to Algeria’s potential and capabilities in this area.

The one-day forum, held under the high patronage of the President of the Republic Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will address several themes including the mechanisms to be put in place in Algeria to achieve the self-sufficiency in durum wheat, globalization and food security.

Two workshops are also on the program during which food security and agriculture in Saharan areas will be discussed. At the end of the work of this forum, the participants will formulate a series of recommendations.
