ALGIERS- The Director-General of Algerian Customs, Abdelhafid Bakhouche, has revealed the potential for agreements to streamline all procedures for promoting Algerian products in international markets.
Assuring exporters of dates, Bakhouche pledged that necessary measures would be taken to address their challenges, aiming to incentivize an increase in export volumes and access new markets. The ultimate goal set by authorities is to elevate the value of date exports to $250 million by the end of 2024. Algeria aims to distribute dates in 150 countries, as previously announced by the Ministry of Commerce.
It is worth noting that Algeria’s domestic date production currently stands at over 1.2 million tons per year, with a significant increase recorded annually. This growth contributes to expanding the volume of date exports, as the product remains highly sought after in international markets.
