ALGIERS– A delegation from the General Confederation of Algerian Enterprises (CGEA), led by its President, Saida Neghza, paid a visit to Dakar (Senegal). The delegation that attended the CNP meeting had the opportunity to be received by several ministers and held discussions on joint partnership projects, in the presence of the Algerian Ambassador to Senegal. On this occasion, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the CGEA and the CNP, for the establishment of a lasting framework for the deepening of bilateral economic exchanges and greater consultation and coordination.

The document was signed by the president of the CNP, Baïdy Agne, and the president of the CGEA, Saida Neghza. It notably provides for technology transfers. The two partners plan to periodically organize business meetings to provide the governments of Algeria and Senegal with “all the information or business opportunities necessary to strengthen bilateral cooperation”. “A 50-hectare industrial zone is granted to Algeria for investors wishing to set up there,” said the CGEA press release.

These agreements were negotiated last December during a business mission led by Ms. Neghza to Senegal, the first with up to a hundred CGEA businessmen as part of the orientation of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the opening up to the African continent. Contacted by media, the president of the CGEA indicated that “her visits concern the realization of investment projects in Senegal by Algerian companies”, which, she assured, “will have a certain impact in terms of strengthening Algerian-Senegalese economic cooperation”.

“These partnerships and investment projects were concluded individually and globally. It was agreed to set up a dry port and allocate our companies for the construction of 100,000 housing units, all types combined. Most of the projects negotiated last December, particularly during working sessions with APIX, responsible for promoting investment in Senegal, relate to industrial processing and agri-food,” she added.

Emphasizing the existence of a maturity and a positive pragmatism in favor of the increase of intra-African trade which should experience a better development within the framework of the ZLECAf, she recalled that the success of the mission of business in Senegal was the fruit of a long work with the ambassadors of Senegal and Algeria. “It was a mission that received the support of the high authorities of both countries and I myself have the honor of meeting His Excellency, the President of Senegal, Mr. Macky Sall, in Algiers on the sidelines of the Arab Summit in November”, argued Ms. Neghza.

It should be recalled that Saïda Neghza, president of the General Confederation of Algerian Enterprises (CGEA), has, once again, been listed by the famous economic and financial magazine “Forbes Afrique” among the 50 most influential businesswomen in Africa.

Ms. Neghza is considered, by this magazine, as one of the most eminent entrepreneurs from North Africa, being a wealth creator, job provider and a driver of the economic dynamism observed on the continent.

Ms. Neghza conducts intense economic diplomacy, in accordance with the Algerian State’s policy on foreign trade, cooperation and partnership, especially with the regional environment of which Algeria is a pivotal pole. Aware of Algeria’s pivotal political, economic and cultural role, Neghza has taken upon the responsibility of implementing President Tebboune’s guidance in this regard with all possible means with the aim to realize the aspirations of the state and serve the interests of the country. Her tours have culminated in the conclusion of many partnership agreements covering different spheres of life aimed at further enhancing the position of the Algerian economy.
