Development of renewable energies, energy efficiency: Convergence between Algiers, London

ALGIERS- As part of the cooperation in the energy transition and sustainable development sector, the Commissioner for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, Pr. Noureddine Yassaa, received, this Wednesday, Mrs. Anne Sharon Wardle, Ambassador of the United United and Northern Ireland in Algeria.
According to a statement from the Commissariat for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Ambassador Wardle, who paid a courtesy visit to the province of renewable energy and energy efficiency, discussed “opportunities for the development of Algerian-British cooperation in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency in the face of economic and climatic challenges”.
For his part, Professor Nordine Yassaa gave a presentation on “Algeria’ significant potential in the field of renewable energies”, in particular solar energy as well as the production and export of green hydrogen.
He also underlined the role of the Commissariat which is part of a sustainable energy transition in Algeria. Technical and scientific cooperation with his British counterpart in the field of the development of renewable energies, energy efficiency, energy storage, pure and sustainable mobility, was also at the center of the in-depth talks.
The openness to the development of the production of green hydrogen was also tackled, especially that the North African country is a gas producer with considerable experience in the field of treatment, transport, distribution and liquefaction of gas.
The Ambassador, on her part, expressed her willingness to work to promote technical cooperation between the Commissariat and the British authorities in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean hydrogen, training and capacity building in innovative financing mechanisms for related projects, the statement concluded.
