ALGIERS- Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, the Minister of Housing, Urbanism, and City Affairs, has revealed plans for his ministry to transition towards digitizing the process of social housing allocation and waiting lists. He noted that this move aims to tackle underlying challenges in selecting beneficiaries and highlighted that the initiative is presently being examined within the ministry.
In a plenary session focused on oral inquiries at the People’s National Assembly (APN), overseen by Mr. Moussa Kherfi, Vice-Speaker of the APN, and attended by multiple ministers, Mr. Belaribi disclosed that the sector is actively pursuing the digitization of social housing application records. This initiative aims to mitigate issues associated with appeals, wilaya commissions, and grievances.
He also reiterated President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s commitment to preserving the social aspect of housing through a comprehensive program of 460,000 housing units, including the upcoming launch of the AADL 3 program, which will contribute to increasing the number of these housing units.
In this context, the minister underscored that the sector is presently examining the matter of the financial assistance allocated to rural housing. This evaluation is expected to result in various determinations, particularly concerning mountainous regions and parcels of land necessitating substantial pre-construction preparations.
