Economic Expert Abderrahmane Hadef: Raising the Tourism Allowance Will Enhance Algeria’s Global Appeal

“This is a bold and much-needed step. It aligns with Algeria’s improved financial reserves and signals a commitment to stabilizing the currency exchange market,” Dr. Hadef stated.

The increase in the allowance also underpins Algeria’s strategy to revitalize its tourism sector. With improved affordability and convenience for international travel, the move is set to enhance Algeria’s reputation as a welcoming destination for tourists and expatriates.

“This measure strengthens Algeria’s openness to the world and creates an environment conducive to investment and tourism,” noted Dr. Hadef. He added that it also ensures greater comfort and financial security for Algerians traveling abroad, further bridging the gap between Algeria and the global community.

Another notable decision from the recent Cabinet meeting was the creation of the National Agency for Major Balances of the State Budget and Strategic Planning. Dr. Hadef emphasized the importance of this agency in promoting fiscal transparency and strategic foresight. He urged the government to equip it with advanced tools and skilled personnel to ensure its effective functioning.

On the social front, Dr. Hadef commended the government’s swift response to compensate victims of the September floods in southern Algeria. “This reflects the social character of the state and its unwavering commitment to citizen welfare,” he remarked.

He further stressed the need for expanding Algeria’s insurance frameworks to include climate-related risks, such as floods and wildfires. “Such measures are critical to building resilience and protecting both citizens and the economy from unforeseen disasters,” he said.
