ALGIERS- In an astounding display of persistent hostility towards Algeria, Xavier Driencourt, the controversial diplomat, has yet again resorted to baseless attacks and slander. One cannot help but wonder what deep-seated frustration or negative experiences have fueled his relentless vendetta against the nation. Bereft of any credible arguments, Driencourt has resorted to chaining insults and fabrications, cementing the notion that his anathemas are nothing more than the desperate ploys of an argument-starved individual.
The latest blow in Driencourt’s all-out campaign against Algeria is a blatant lie. In a forum provided by the JDD (Journal du Dimanche), he audaciously propagates the fallacious claim that Algiers supported demonstrations in France related to the tragic assassination of young Nael. This nauseating and scatological text not only defames Algeria but also questions Driencourt’s own sanity.
Driencourt attempts to exploit the legitimate concern of Algeria over the risk of armed conflict in Niger and its potential spill-over effect on its borders. Algeria’ stance, which opposes untimely armed interventions, is a wise and just position that aligns with unfolding events. However, blinded by his unhealthy hatred, Driencourt shamelessly omits mentioning that it was the assassination of Gaddafi, orchestrated by his own country, France, that set in motion the chain of events in the Sahelo-Saharan region.
With each venomous word, Driencourt reveals his inner Mr. Hyde (from the novel by Robert Louis), a vile alter ego lurking behind the façade of a polished diplomat. It takes only a slight scratch on the surface to expose the true nature of this ambassador, who would have been mistaken for Dr. Jekyll in a different context. His unchecked prejudices manifest in a torrent of insults and demeaning caricatures directed at the Algerian people.
Incredibly, Driencourt goes on to question the integrity of the Algerian media, accusing it of being devoid of journalistic standards. Conveniently overlooking the transformation of French media into propaganda tools during the Ukrainian conflict, he conveniently avoids addressing the blatant hypocrisy within his own nation’s press.
It is high time for responsible individuals, institutions, and nations to denounce the toxicity perpetuated by Xavier Driencourt. His words and actions not only stain the diplomatic arena but also perpetuate primary and primitive racism. This kind of rhetoric only serves to inflame tensions and hinder constructive dialogue.
