ALGIERS- The Wali of Algiers, Abdenour Rabhi, inspected, on Tuesday, the seawater desalination stations, which supply a large part of the districts of the capital with drinking water.
He began his visit with the Zéralda infrastructure, which has a production capacity of 10,000 m3 per day; however, it currently supplies only 9,500 m3 per day. He instructed the company in charge of the project, Cosider Canalization, to speed up the pace of work so that the site exploits its maximum potential.
Abdenour Rabhi and the delegation accompanying him then went to the Fouka 2 desalination station, currently under construction. Its conceptual production capacity is 300,000 m2 per day.
He also supervised the project to build artesian wells in the town of Birtouta.
The drilling and rehabilitation of these wells in the region have contributed to increasing the water production capacity to 320,000 m3 per day, whereas it was around 285,000 m3 per day.
The wali of Algiers wrapped up his field trip with a visit to the desalination station of Corso, on the edge of the wilaya of Boumerdes. The infrastructure has produced 80,000 m3 per day and supplied almost the entire eastern suburbs of the capital since its commissioning at the end of 2022.
