Dutch Ambassador Luwema Outlines Aspirations for Collaboration with Algeria

Algiers, Algeria | October 9th, 2024 — In a significant diplomatic engagement, Ambassador Anne Elisabeth Luwema of the Kingdom of the Netherlands expressed her country’s aspirations to bolster cooperation with Algeria in various strategic areas. Her remarks came during a ceremony on Tuesday, where she officially presented her letters of credence to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
“This moment marks the official beginning of my mission as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Algeria,” Ambassador Luwema stated, expressing gratitude to the Algerian government and its people for the warm welcome extended to her. She pledged to work diligently to strengthen the amicable relations that bind the two nations, particularly in the realms of trade and investment.
Highlighting the active collaboration that already exists, Ambassador Luwema noted that the relationship between the Netherlands and Algeria is founded on cooperation in several strategic sectors, including agriculture and water management. She emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and technology to effectively tackle the challenges posed by climate change.
“Together, we can make significant strides in addressing climate-related issues,” she asserted, underscoring the potential for joint efforts in sustainable development.
Furthermore, Ambassador Luwema highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the two countries in the realm of energy transition, particularly through the exploitation of renewable energy sources, including green hydrogen. This initiative aims to foster sustainable practices and environmental responsibility while reinforcing bilateral ties.
In addition to these strategic areas, the ambassador pointed out the commitment to enhancing exchanges in academic research and sports, paving the way for a comprehensive partnership that transcends mere diplomatic engagements.
The audience was attended by key Algerian officials, including Mr. Boualem Boualem, Director of Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, and Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.
