Dzair Tube Sources: Air Algerie Issues Sanctions Against 5 Employees for Delayed Luggage on Business Class Flight

Algiers, Algeria | June 12th, 2024 — According to Dzair Tube’s reliable sources, Air Algerie has imposed stringent sanctions on five employees from its cargo department after they were found responsible for the mishandling and delay of six business class passengers’ luggage on the Algiers-Dakar route.
The company has launched a thorough investigation into the incident, revealing that the mishap was due to the limited cargo capacity of the aircraft, which led the employees to transfer the luggage to the subsequent flight.
Air Algerie assured that the delayed luggage was delivered to the passengers at their hotel promptly, emphasizing that such occurrences are rare. The airline also highlighted that its lost luggage rate is significantly below the global average of 4%, standing at just 0.0012% in 2023.
The company has issued a stern warning to its cargo department staff to prevent future incidents and has implemented strict measures to ensure that passengers and their belongings reach their destinations on time and in optimal conditions. Among these measures is the introduction of a new hotline, “3302”, to handle customer inquiries, along with the establishment of a 24/7 call center.
Furthermore, Air Algerie is set to enhance its website to better serve its customers. This initiative follows a public outcry by Mourad Mellah, the General Director of the Bellat Group, whose luggage was delayed for over three days. Mellah posted a video demanding the return of his belongings, which shed light on the issue and prompted swift action from the airline.
