Dzair Tube Sources: Another Scandal Involving Former Football Federation… FIFA Rules in Favor of Spanish Vicente Girona

ALGIERS-According to reports from Dzair Tube, FIFA has issued a ruling requiring the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) to provide significant financial compensation totaling €84,000 to Vicente Girona, a Spanish technical director who had been employed within the Algerian football structure in the past. This ruling sheds light on a new scandal implicating former officials of the Algerian Football Federation.
Vicente Girona, who served as the director of the technical center for the FAF in Khemis Miliana, Algeria, also worked extensively with the youth categories of the Algerian national team and held a coaching position at Athletic Club Parado for players under 21 years old. Despite lacking any significant playing experience at a high level, Vicente Girona was granted a remarkable opportunity to work within Algerian football.
Reports from various media outlets have previously suggested Girona’s involvement in a scheme to transfer Algerian players from the Khemis Miliana academy to Qatar for naturalization purposes, in exchange for financial benefits. This revelation has added fuel to the fire surrounding the ongoing scandal.
The FIFA notification regarding the compensation claim was delivered to the Algerian Football Federation in April of last year, during the tenure of the previous federation officials. However, it appears that the matter was not adequately addressed at the time. Subsequently, Girona’s legal representative recently sent a notice to the current Algerian Football Federation, urging prompt payment of the outstanding dues.
What adds an intriguing twist to the situation is the request made by Girona’s lawyer for the funds to be transferred to a Qatari bank account, rather than a Spanish one, despite Girona being of Spanish nationality and not Qatari.
