With the escalation of violent incidents in stadiums, FAF takes decisive measures, including the possibility of hosting matches without spectators, to protect the integrity of Algerian football.

Algiers, Algeria | April 20th, 2025 —  In a bold and decisive move to address the escalating violence in Algerian football stadiums, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) is contemplating a comprehensive ban on fans traveling for away games for the remainder of the current football season. This decision comes in response to the increasingly frequent incidents of violence that have marred the image of Algerian football and posed a significant threat to the safety of players, officials, and spectators.

According to sources within FAF, the federation is also preparing to hold the remaining matches of the Ligue 1 without spectators if the violent trends continue to disrupt the smooth running of the league. The association is determined to implement these stringent measures in order to preserve the integrity of the sport and ensure that the image of Algerian football does not continue to be tarnished by such negative incidents.

FAF’s president, Walid Sadi, has called for an urgent meeting with club presidents to discuss these alarming developments and come up with concrete strategies to curb the violence. The goal is to foster a safer and more respectful environment for all involved in the sport.

The federation is urging Algerians to reject hate speech and promote a spirit of national unity, emphasizing the importance of cultivating a culture of sportsmanship and respect both on and off the pitch. FAF has also appealed to all football stakeholders, including clubs, players, and supporters, to take a collective stand against violence in a bid to protect the future of Algerian football.
