ALGIERS- As per reports from Dzair Tube, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) is preparing to present its case before the District Court in Lausanne regarding the incident involving RS Berkane. The matter arose when RS Berkane, a Moroccan football club, declined to participate in their scheduled match against USM Alger at the 5th of July Stadium. The reason for their refusal was their attempt to wear jerseys displaying political messages, a violation of both CAF and FIFA regulations.
Upon their arrival at the stadium, RS Berkane players opted to stay in the locker rooms and eventually left the stadium without playing the match. Their decision to feature political propaganda on their jerseys goes against the rules set by CAF and FIFA, which strictly prohibit such actions.
This incident took place amidst escalating tensions surrounding RS Berkane’s intention to include a politically charged map on their jerseys, a move strongly criticized by Algerian authorities and football officials.
Despite attempts to resolve the issue, RS Berkane’s refusal to comply with regulations resulted in the match being canceled. This underscores the importance of upholding the integrity of football and preventing it from being exploited for political ends. RS Berkane’s actions have been met with disapproval and condemnation, highlighting the necessity of adhering strictly to established regulations governing the sport.
