Earthquake in Morocco: Algeria Offers Emergency Aid Package Including Rescuers, Canine Teams, Medical Support, and Humanitarian Supplies

ALGIERS- In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco, Algeria has stepped forward with a generous offer of assistance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria has expressed its readiness to provide urgent aid to Morocco, subject to Morocco’s acceptance of the offer. The aid package includes the deployment of an 80-member specialized Civil Protection intervention team.
Speaking to the AL24 News channel on Sunday, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared insights into Algeria’s proactive response to the disaster. “As part of the emergency logistical and material aid that our country is willing to provide to the brotherly Moroccan people, to deal with the consequences of the powerful earthquake, Algeria is offering emergency deployment – in the event that the Kingdom of Morocco accepts this offer of help – from a Civil Protection intervention team comprising 80 specialized rescuers,” the spokesperson stated.
The specialized Civil Protection team offered by Algeria is diverse and highly trained to address various aspects of rescue and relief operations. The team’s composition is as follows:
- Canine Team for Search and Identification: This team specializes in using trained search and rescue dogs to locate and identify individuals trapped under rubble. Their expertise significantly increases the chances of finding survivors quickly.
- Rescue and Search Team: Comprising skilled rescuers, this unit is equipped to handle the most challenging rescue operations. They are trained in using specialized equipment to extricate individuals from collapsed structures safely.
- Medical Team: Immediate medical care is vital in the aftermath of natural disasters. Algeria’s aid package includes a dedicated medical team capable of providing essential medical assistance to the injured and affected individuals.
- Humanitarian Aid: Alongside the rescue and medical teams, Algeria is also offering vital humanitarian aid. This includes tents, cots, blankets, and other supplies essential for shelter and comfort for those displaced by the earthquake.
