Algiers, Algeria | July 12th, 2024 — A recent Economic Forum in Montreal, Canada, showcased investment opportunities in Algeria, resulting in robust B2B meetings between business operators from both countries. The event was organized by the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) in partnership with the Quebec Employers Council and the Algerian-Canadian Economic Development Council (CDCA).
Held as part of the CREA’s economic mission to Montreal from July 8 to 14, the forum included a significant delegation of Algerian business leaders. High-profile attendees included Algeria’s Ambassador to Ottawa, Nourredine Sidi Abed; Canada’s Ambassador to Algiers, Michael Callan; Algeria’s Consul General in Montreal, Mohamed Zergot; and several prominent Algerian academics and scientists based in Canada.
The forum opened with an address by CREA President Kamel Moula, who highlighted Algeria’s business climate and investment opportunities. A film showcasing Algeria’s economic potential was screened, providing Canadian participants with valuable insights into the country’s realities and opportunities.
Following this, Canadian economic operators attended presentations by Algerian counterparts on key sectors such as renewable energy, mining, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and agro-industry. Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), detailed the investor platform and investment application processes, which had a positive impact on the Canadian operators.
CREA emphasized the success of the forum, noting that the comprehensive information provided facilitated strong and productive B2B meetings, sparking initial partnership opportunities between business leaders from both nations. The event also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between CREA and CDCA, and an upcoming protocol agreement between CREA and the Quebec Employers Council (CPQ), setting common roadmaps for future collaboration.
