ALGIERS- In a statement released on Thursday, the National Association of Traders and Artisans (ANCA) expressed satisfaction with the adherence of traders and economic operators to the Eid al-Fitr holiday schedule, noting that adherence rates reached 100% in certain provinces.

This widespread compliance with the holiday schedule encompasses various activities defined by the trade and export promotion directorates, including bakeries, general food stores, fruit and vegetable shops, and service providers, according to the statement.

“Several businesses whose owners were not listed on the holiday schedule were found to be open, as noted by citizens and representatives of local consumer protection associations. This observation was also made by control agents at the trade and export promotion directorates,” the statement reads.

Leading up to Eid, markets and shops experienced a surge in consumer activity as people stocked up on food items, clothing, and ingredients for traditional Eid sweets, in addition to bread from bakeries, with demand reaching record levels.

During the Eid days, bus stations experienced a significant influx of travelers, along with busy activity from taxis and passenger transport buses.

On this occasion, the ANCA thanked traders and economic operators “who demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility in ensuring public service and adhering to the holiday schedule in accordance with applicable laws.”

The ANCA urged all traders, service providers, and economic operators not affected by the holiday schedule to resume their activities and reopen their premises immediately after the Eid days, starting from Saturday. It emphasized that wholesale markets and supply networks are operating normally in all provinces.

Additionally, the ANCA called on road users to exercise vigilance and adhere to traffic regulations.
