ALGIERS- The National Commission for the Observation of the Crescent Moon will convene in Algiers this Monday evening for the Night of Doubt, dedicated to the sighting of the crescent moon marking the end of the month of Ramadan, the beginning of the month of Shawwal, and the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Algeria.
Following the Maghrib prayer, a conference focusing on the Night of Doubt will be held at Dar El-Imam (El Mohammadia, Algiers) and will be broadcast live by audiovisual media.
The Night of Doubt holds significance as it marks the traditional method of determining the start of Eid al-Fitr based on the sighting of the new moon. Members of the National Commission will gather to observe the sky and determine the presence of the crescent moon, signaling the conclusion of Ramadan and the commencement of the joyous celebration of Eid.
The conference following the observation will provide updates on the findings and decisions made regarding the start of Eid al-Fitr. This event is of great importance to Muslims across Algeria as it determines the official beginning of the festive period.
