ALGIERS- In an effort to clarify his recent statements about Tunisia and Mauritania, the head of Algeria’s El-Bina El-Watani, Abdelkader Bengrina, today issued a comprehensive statement addressing the misinterpretations surrounding his remarks. Bengrina reiterated the movement’s commitment to regional solidarity and stability while clarifying the context of his comments. The statement sought to dispel any misconceptions that arose from his remarks and emphasized the importance of unity in the Maghreb region.

Context and Clarification

A few days ago, amidst heightened tensions, certain media outlets misreported statements made by Abdelkader Bengrina regarding Mauritania and Tunisia. The El-Bina El-Watani’ statement condemned these distorted interpretations as a deliberate attempt to create division between Algerians and their Mauritanian and Tunisian counterparts. These remarks were initially made during a dialogue with the Algerian press at a political symposium concerning the Nigerian crisis and its impact on the security and stability of the Maghreb region.

Bengrina explained, “Our intention was to caution our Mauritanian brothers against succumbing to external pressure and blackmail aimed at pushing the entire region towards normalization with the Zionist entity.”

Solidarity and Stability

The El-Bina El-Watani firmly restated its commitment to the unity of the Maghreb and its belief in the historical and fraternal ties between Algeria, Mauritania, and Tunisia. Bengrina emphasized that the movement’s message was intended as advice and a call for the Mauritanian authorities to refute any misleading news. The movement strongly supported the official stance taken by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, reinforcing the shared belief that the path of normalization is not in line with the region’s political values.

Furthermore, the movement expressed concern over the attempts of certain entities to manipulate the region’s stability. It underscored that the Maghreb’s cohesion is essential in navigating global economic challenges and thwarting attempts by external forces to exploit these conditions.

Safeguarding Regional Security

Abdelkader Bengrina acknowledged that the recent turmoil in the Maghreb, such as the ongoing conflicts in Libya, underscored the urgency of maintaining regional security and stability. He reaffirmed the National Building Movement’s unwavering support for the Algerian government’s efforts to foster unity among the nations of the region.

“Our political positions are clear and unwavering,” Bengrina declared, emphasizing that the movement’s stance is rooted in the preservation of the Arab nation’s unity and the stability of the Maghreb. He assured that the movement’s statements are responsible and committed to upholding the sovereignty of states and the legitimacy of their institutions.

Conclusion

The Movement’s clarifying statement reiterates its commitment to solidarity, stability, and unity within the Maghreb region. The movement’s dedication to addressing the misconceptions surrounding its statements underscores its genuine concern for the well-being of Algeria, Mauritania, and Tunisia. In a time of external pressures and attempts to disrupt regional harmony, the El-Bina El-Watani stands resolute in safeguarding the collective destiny of the Maghreb nations and upholding the values that bind them together.
