El Bina Movement Strongly Condemns Macron’s Unacceptable Remarks and Foreign Interference in Algeria’s Sovereignty

Algiers, Algeria | January 08th, 2025 — The El Bina Movement on Tuesday expressed its profound outrage and categorical rejection of the recent unacceptable remarks made by French President Emmanuel Macron, which it deems an overt interference in Algeria’s internal affairs and an affront to the country’s judicial independence.

In an official statement, the El Bina Movement stated that Macron’s attempt to address the Algerian people outside the framework of Algeria’s sovereign institutions is a misguided and desperate attempt to undermine the nation’s unity—a cornerstone that has thwarted any attempts to destabilize Algeria. “Such statements represent a direct attack on Algeria’s sovereignty and reflect an alarming disregard for the nation’s legal and judicial integrity,” the movement declared.

The El Bina Movement emphasized that these actions are a clear violation of Algeria’s right to self-determination and sovereignty. “The French president’s remarks are a blatant attempt to undermine our national unity and interfere in our sovereign affairs, bypassing the legitimate institutions that represent the will of the Algerian people,” the statement continued, reaffirming that such provocations would not succeed in sowing divisions among Algerians or altering the course of the country’s growth and prosperity.

Furthermore, the movement expressed deep concern over the growing hostility and hate speech directed towards the Algerian community in France. The El Bina Movement attributed these attacks to well-known factions with a longstanding animosity towards Algeria, calling for an immediate cessation of such dangerous rhetoric. “We stand in solidarity with our citizens abroad and reject any form of hostility or discrimination that targets the Algerian diaspora in France,” the statement read. “These harmful campaigns only serve to fuel divisions and promote a narrative of hatred against a proud and sovereign people.”

The El Bina Movement’s statement also underscored that Macron’s comments represent a broader, troubling trend of interference by external actors in Algeria’s political and judicial processes. “France’s ongoing attempts to meddle in Algeria’s internal affairs and its baseless criticisms of our legal system reflect an outdated and arrogant approach, harking back to a colonial mindset that has no place in the modern world,” the movement asserted. “Algeria’s judicial independence is non-negotiable, and any foreign interference in this regard is unacceptable.”

The movement further emphasized the importance of national cohesion in the face of external pressures. “Algeria’s strength lies in its unity, and these provocations will only strengthen our resolve to protect our national sovereignty and uphold our values of independence, justice, and dignity,” the statement concluded.

In light of this, the El Bina Movement called for a united front in the face of such hostile rhetoric, urging all Algerians to rally around their national institutions and to remain steadfast in defending Algeria’s sovereignty and independence.
