ALGIERS- In an address to party supporters in Mostaganem, Abdelkader Bengrina, President of the El-Bina El Watani movement, discussed the upcoming electoral rendezvous, stressing the significance of ideas and projects within the party. He emphasized that the early presidential elections slated for September 7 reflect a commitment to popular legitimacy, adherence to the Constitution, institutional stability, and the assertion of national sovereignty. Moreover, he underscored Algeria’s steadfast backing for Palestine and Western Sahara, as well as its role in safeguarding the interests of the region and the continent.
While confirming his party’s participation in the presidential election, Bengrina refrained from announcing whether he himself would be a candidate. He mentioned the ongoing series of consultations initiated by the movement with political parties and national figures to align their visions and approaches.
Bengrina also voiced support for the President of the Republic’s initiative for strategic rapprochement with Tunisia and Libya. He affirmed Algeria’s commitment to fostering an Arab Maghreb, stressing the importance of thwarting “Zionist infiltration in the region,” safeguarding the interests of North African countries, and bolstering bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
“We commend Algeria’s initiative to build a new Arab Maghreb based on integrating identity elements and economic parameters,” Bengrina stated. Criticizing the western neighbor and its efforts to undermine Algeria’s rapprochement with Tunisia and Libya, he remarked, “Occupying nations are not qualified to be partners for anyone. The prosperity of the region depends on bonds of brotherhood and solidarity, without intrigue or betrayal.”
