ALGIERS- The most recent edition of El Djeïch, the official publication of the People’s National Army, underscored Algeria’s unequivocal re-emergence onto the global stage, highlighting its esteemed status both regionally and internationally.
Commencing with a tribute to the countless martyrs whose sacrifices propelled Algeria’s advancement, particularly during the month of March, the editorial lauds the nation’s significant progress on both domestic and international fronts. It accentuates Algeria’s stature not only as a regional powerhouse but also as a pivotal actor on the world stage.
A notable event of global importance was Algeria’s hosting of the seventh Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum from February 29 to March 2, 2024. Against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions and global economic challenges, this summit reaffirmed Algeria’s esteemed position and demonstrated its reliability in the global energy sphere. It cemented Algeria’s role as a key player in ensuring global energy security, underpinned by its expertise and extensive experience in the sector.
President Abdelmadjid Teboune, in his concluding remarks, reiterated Algeria’s dedication to bolstering the forum’s position as a platform for regional and international dialogue and cooperation. He stressed the sovereign rights of member states over their gas resources and their crucial role in sustainable development and global energy security, aligning with UN objectives.
Amid the global shift towards cleaner energy sources, natural gas has gained prominence. The unanimous agreement among forum members on a comprehensive strategy underscores Algeria’s recognition of natural gas as an abundant, affordable, and environmentally friendly energy source. Algeria advocates for the expanded utilization of natural gas alongside renewable energies to promote sustainable development.
Another significant occurrence was the joint inauguration of strategic projects in Tindouf by Presidents Teboune and his Mauritanian counterpart. These projects, which include border posts, the Tindouf-Zouérat road, and a free trade and industrial zone, signal a new chapter in the historical relations between the two countries, fostering economic integration and commercial activity.
Furthermore, the unveiling of “Djamaâ El-Djazaïr” symbolizes a beacon of national identity, unity, and cultural enrichment, extending its influence beyond Algeria’s borders.
