ALGIERS- In its latest issue, the editorial of El Djeich, the magazine of the Algerian army, dedicates a significant portion to the ongoing Palestinian question, which has been experiencing one of the darkest chapters in its history since October 7th.

Amidst a heartfelt tribute to the heroes who ignited the Algerian revolution, celebrating its 69th anniversary on November 1st, the magazine’s editorial underscores the parallel between the Palestinian people’s current demands and the historical aspirations of the Algerian people, who refused to accept the status quo and ended their occupation.
Furthermore, El Djeich emphasizes that Algeria’s unwavering support for occupied peoples striving for self-determination and independence is rooted in the noble values that underpinned its glorious revolution.
Our Nation Remains Resolute
The magazine reiterates that Algeria, the first country in the world to recognize the Palestinian state when the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat declared its establishment in Algeria on November 15, 1988, stands firmly by its principles. These principles revolve around the Palestinian people’s right to full self-determination and independence.
It echoes Algeria’s belief that there can be no lasting peace in the Middle East without a just resolution to the Palestinian issue. El Djeich’s editorial asserts that Algeria’s stance alongside Palestine symbolizes the affirmation of justice in the face of coercion, oppression, and the usurpation of a people’s national rights as they seek nothing more than peaceful coexistence on their land.
The Palestinian Question: Zionist Occupation’s Planned Demise
The magazine boldly denounces the Zionist aggression as a “war crime” and a “crime against humanity.” It argues that, concerning the Palestinian issue, one of the primary concerns for Algerian leaders and the people, all signs and evidence indicate that the Zionist occupation has strategically planned its demise.
This is evident in the genocide perpetrated against Palestinian civilians, particularly children and women, in blatant violation of international norms and conventions. Consequently, the editorial accuses the Zionist occupation of “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity.”
Crimes Enabled by International Community’s Silence
El Djeich contends that these crimes persist due to the failure of the United Nations and the Security Council to enforce the internationally recognized two-state solution, and the regrettable international positions that intentionally overlook the facts and deny justice to the Palestinian people.
The magazine also points a finger at the total alignment of Western media with the Zionist entity, asserting their shameless use of double standards in dealing with the just cause of a people who have been struggling for over 75 years to regain their legitimate right to establish an independent state.
Algeria’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, as highlighted in El Djeich, exemplifies the nation’s unwavering dedication to justice, self-determination, and the rights of oppressed people.
