ALGIERS- In a significant development for Algeria’s energy landscape, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, welcomed the CEO of the Italian company Eni, Claudio Descalzi, on Wednesday. The meeting, attended by Sonatrach’s CEO and key officials from both ministries and ENI, delved into the state of cooperative relations and the prospects for their enhancement within the framework of existing agreements, as per the ministry’s statement.
The discussions revolved around the ongoing projects between Sonatrach and ENI in the fields of hydrocarbons, hydrogen, and new and renewable energies. The meeting also addressed ENI’s investment opportunities in Algeria, particularly in the upstream oil and gas sectors. The agenda included the development of reserves and the augmentation of natural gas production capacity as part of the mutually agreed-upon investment plan.
The joint satisfaction expressed by both parties regarding the quality of relations between Sonatrach and the Italian company Eni, both in existing and upcoming projects within Algeria and internationally, was highlighted in the ministry’s statement.
