Erdogan Wraps Up Official Visit to Algeria, 13 Agreements, MoUs Inked

ALGIERS- November 21, 2023- President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey concluded his official visit to Algeria on Tuesday evening. The visit was marked by the signing of the Joint Declaration during the 2nd session of the High-Level Cooperation Council, along with 13 agreements and memoranda of understanding covering various areas of cooperation between the two countries.

President Erdogan bid farewell at his departure from the Houari-Boumediene International Airport in Algiers, where he was greeted by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui and other members of the Algerian government.

Signing of 13 Cooperation Agreements Between Algeria and Turkey

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, presided over the signing ceremony of numerous agreements in various fields between the two countries.

President Tebboune and President Erdogan signed the joint declaration for the second meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council between Algeria and Turkey.

Additionally, agreements were signed, including a memorandum of cooperation between the Algerian News Agency and Anadolu Agency, a memorandum of cooperation between the Algerian Space Agency and the Turkish Space Agency, a cooperation agreement between Sonatrach and Botas for the purchase and sale of liquefied natural gas, and a protocol of cooperation in the field of archives. Other agreements encompassed cooperation between the Burns Hospital in Zeralda and the Basaksehir Hospital in Turkey.

The signing also extended to a joint ministerial declaration regarding the intention to sign the Algerian-Turkish preferential trade agreement, a cooperation agreement in the field of consumer protection and market observation and inspection, a memorandum of understanding in the environmental sector, a cooperation agreement on joint film production, an agreement between the Algerian National Library and the Turkish National Library, a protocol of cooperation in scholarships for higher education, and a memorandum of understanding in ceremonial matters.
